2004 Ducati Multistrada 1000 DS | 11,533 KM | Red & White | Desmo L-Twin Sports-Tourer | Retro Bikes Dublin

Bologna’s Boldest Idea. A Desmo L-Twin With Attitude. Low Mileage. Genuinely Rare.

Few motorcycles are as brave, as characterful or as unmistakably Italian as the Ducati Multistrada 1000. This 2004 example, finished in classic Ducati red with white accents and showing just 11,533 km, is an exceptionally clean, low-mileage example of one of the most original and forward-thinking bikes Ducati ever built — a machine that refused to fit any category and, in doing so, invented a whole new one.

At its heart is Ducati’s legendary air/oil-cooled L-twin, the 1000 “Dual Spark” (DS) engine — a 992cc 90° V-twin using Ducati’s iconic Desmodromic valve system and twin-plug heads for cleaner combustion, smoother running and stronger response. It’s an engine bursting with character: torquey, muscular and utterly addictive low down, with that unmistakable Ducati beat that no other manufacturer has ever quite matched. Fitted with a carbon slip-on exhaust, this example sharpens that already glorious L-twin soundtrack even further.

What makes the Multistrada so special, though, is the way it all comes together. Built around Ducati’s signature red tubular trellis frame — proudly on display and one of the great pieces of motorcycle design — the Multistrada pairs genuine sportbike DNA with an upright, commanding riding position and long-travel suspension. The result is a bike that’s equally at home carving mountain roads, dispatching a fast commute or heading off on a spirited weekend tour. Multistrada literally means “many roads,” and few bikes deliver on their name so completely.

Then there’s the styling. Penned by Pierre Terblanche, the Multistrada’s tall, purposeful stance, twin-headlamp beak and floating tail were unlike anything else on the road in 2004 — and time has been very kind to the design. Today it’s recognised as one of the boldest, most distinctive shapes in modern Ducati history, and finished in this red-and-white livery it looks every inch the exotic, head-turning Italian it is.

With just 11,533 km on the clock, this 2004 Ducati Multistrada 1000 DS is a genuinely rare find — a low-mileage, honest example of a future modern classic that’s rapidly gaining a devoted following. It will appeal to Ducati collectors, riders who want real L-twin character with everyday usability, or anyone chasing a bike with true personality and Bologna pedigree.

Great motorcycle workshop. Alan was absolutely amazing, knows what he’s doing, very friendly, 10/10 recommend. Before a full service here, I didn’t think that my ’89 Spada could ride so beautifully.

Thanks lads.
